Ladies lose first home game of season as team is hit with injuries
Cheddar 1 – 3 – Hutton
For their first home game of the season Cheddar faced a newly formed Hutton team, however, although they are a new team to the league, most of the girls have played together in under 16 league previously and that soon became evident once the game had started.
With Bowden Park having just been freshly cut and white lined and the sun shining down, the two teams took to the pitch both eager to get a win under their belts.
Hutton put the pressure on from the start and although they were the younger team, they coped well with the big pitch and played good football to keep the Cheese under pressure.
The Cheese girls were suffering from a number of injuries with only one sub to use and seemed to be second to the ball a lot of the time but they held off the Hutton attack until 20 minutes had passed before the defence was split and the Hutton number 9 broke through to beat keeper Rachael Rousell in a 1 v 1 situation.
Although with home advantage the Cheese girls struggled to threaten the opposing goal keeper and 15 mins later Hutton broke through again with the number 9 slotting home her second.
Half time brought some harsh words from Manager Walsh and the Cheese girls were sent back out to battle to see if they could claw their way back into the game.
The second half saw the Cheese start to play better football and they put some good passes together and began to have a few shots on goal. It was Laura Clarke who had come on as substitute that got one back for the Cheese, taking the score to 1-2
However, the Cheese girls couldn’t capitalise on it and let Hutton get a further hold with about 10 mins left in the game when they made it 3-1 putting the game out of the reach of the deflated Cheese girls.
So with two games played, the Cheese girls have won one game and lost one.
