Name: Val
Position: Manager/Coach/ Secretary/Player
Bio: Val has been with Cheddar for 7 years and joined in 2016 as a right midfielder. Originally from Dublin, she has brought a bit of Irish charm to the team and quickly established herself as a key player for the Cheese. Val was top goal scorer for 2 years running in 2017 and 2018 and was then asked to take on the Manager’s role. Val jumped at the chance and is now a qualified FA UEFA B coach. The highest qualified coach at the club.
Name: Jade
Position: Captain/Assistant Manager
Midfielder/Goalie/Striker
Bio: Jade joined the team back in 2014 after previously having played with Mendip. She was given the captains armband in 2017 and still wears it with pride. She is fully committed to the Cheese and is the gel that holds the team together, both on and off the pitch. She can read the game extremely well and leads the team from whatever position she plays in. Her heart is shaped like a football and she is so dedicated that she has been known to play with a broken foot! Her love of Villa is probably her only vice!
Name: Jo
Position: Defender
Bio: Jo is one of the original players when the team was set up in 2014 and has been the most committed player ever since. She has improved each season and works hard to develop her skills getting tips from her nephews. She has been known to score from the half way line when she feels like it! Jo never misses a training session and is cheese through and through. Jo is always the “go to” person when you need something (suncream, umbrellas, Panadol, plasters) whatever you need, whatever size bag she has, Jo will have what you want! Jo can often be found dancing in the changing room when the tunes come on!
Name: Emily
Position: Defender/Midfielder
Bio: Emily joined Cheddar after covid and quickly became an important part of the team. She is a tough defender and midfielder and is fully committed to the Cheese. She brings the banter with her and has grown in confidence each season and adapts to new positions as needed. Always up for a challenge (on and off the pitch!) she is our reigning “Crossbar Challenge Queen”
Name: Char
Position: Defender
Bio: Char is one of the original players who has been with Cheddar since the start. She is fully committed to the Cheese and can always be found down at the club either playing or watching the mens games. Char is a very tough defender and takes no prisoners. Another left footer that has scored some beauties from cheeky free kicks. Char is known for her long throw ins and tough tackling. Try and pass her at your peril!
Name: Katy
Position: Centre-Back/ Midfielder
Bio: Katy has quickly become a key player for Cheddar. She can slot into the midfield or defence line as and when needed and plays with passion and commitment. She gives everything on the pitch and her long legs see her cover more ground than anyone else. She regularly gets “Player of the Match” for outstanding performances. She also plays some of her best games when hungover!

Name: Sophie C
Position: Defender
Bio: Sophie brings a few silky moves to the game and can regularly be seen sending the attacker the wrong way and then playing the ball out of the danger zone. She is small but mighty and battles hard for the Cheese. If she is not at the bar, you will find her on the beach with her dog Kevin!
Name: Chelsea
Position: Centre-Back
Bio: Chelsea is a local Cheddar girl that has been committed to the cheese for many years. As centre back, she has been a powerhouse keeping defenders at bay. Injuries and a move to the big city has meant Chelsea isn’t always available to play each week but she is always ready to jump in to help when we are stuck. Chelsea also plays walking football for Cheddar which gives her injuries a chance to heal!
Name: Abbie
Position: Midfield, Defender
Bio: Abbie joined the team from Mendip at the end of 2017/2018 season and has been cheese through and through ever since! Abbie can always be found at the bar or wearing yellow (she is very colour co-ordinated!) Abbie recently won the 2022/2023 season manager’ player. Abbie is a life long Bristol City fan and can often be found on a Saturday singing and drinking at Ashton Gate, and miraculously is always bright and cheery for the Cheese games on Sundays!
Name: Charlotte
Position: Goalie/Winger/Defender
Bio: Charlotte joined the team in 2015 and has played in a number of positions since then. A versatile player, willing to adapt to new positions for the good of the team. She has recently donned the goalkeeper jersey and is enjoying the challenge of being a goalie. Charlotte also is a budding photographer and we owe a lot of our great photo shots to her.
Name: Keira
Position: Midfielder
Bio: Keira is a local Cheddar girl who joined us in 2022 at the young age of 16 after 2 seasons with Stockwood girls. She quickly gelled with the team in her natural midfield position, showing strength beyond her years with no-nonsense tackling, coupled with a keen footballing brain. She had knee surgery in March 2023 and is currently on her way back to full fitness for the new season 2023/24
Name: Ash
Position: Striker
Bio: Ash is an experienced player having also played with Mendip. She is quick and skilful on the ball and likes to tease the defence before finding the back of the net. Unfortunately, Ash is currently out injured with a serious knee injury she sustained in a game last season. We are hoping she will soon be back to terrorise the opposition.
Name: Gabi
Position: Winger
Bio: Gabi is one of the few left footers on the team and she leaves a trail of defenders in her wake as she dances her way up the wing with the ball stuck to her foot. She also played with Weston before joining Cheddar and now she is just as Cheesy as the rest of us!
Name: Millie
Position: Midfielder
Bio: Millie joined the team in 2022 as a young 16 year old alongside her friend Keira. She soon showed us she was a force to be reckoned with and was becoming an important part of the team. Unfortunately, early in her first season, she was very badly injured with a broken leg which meant a long time on the side lines for her. But we are pleased to say she is now fully recovered for the 23/24 season and ready to get back on the pitch and show us just how good she really is.
Name: Lauren
Position: Midfielder
Bio: Lauren has been part of the midfield for a number of years now and has improved each season and has an impact on the games she plays in. A bit hot headed at times, she is not to be messed with on the pitch and will battle with fierce determination! She links well with the other midfield players and has been known to hit the back of the net on quite a few occasions.
Name: Rosie
Position: Midfielder
Bio: Rosie is one of those players that can change a game in an instant. She has silky skills and can run rings around defenders before unleashing a shot that any Lioness would be proud of. She has the ability to hold off defenders and is a very unselfish player and brings her team mates into the game, setting them up, and creating chances for them. She was top goal scorer in the 21/22 season.
Name: Lily
Position: Winger
Bio: This is Lily’s first season with Cheddar having taken the step up to ladies football from playing under 18s with Weston Mendip. Lily has impressed so far in training and in summer tournaments with her speed and skill out on the right wing. Lily is football mad and always has a ball at her feet. She is excited to show what she can do at this level and we think she is one to watch!
Name: Sophie
Position: Midfield/Winger
Bio: Sophie is new to Cheddar for the 23/24 season and has been fully committed during pre-season training. She is a skilful player and quick with it. She is a good team player and is going to do very well in womens football. We are keen to see how Sophie will impress during the season as if training is anything to go by, she is going to be a great addition to the team.
Name: Sherise
Position: Striker
Bio: Sherise is another ex Mendip player who has joined the Cheese. She joined Cheddar in Dec 22 which was half way through that season and she managed to claim top goal scorer spot not only for the ladies team but top goalscorer over all in the whole club! That’s what you call making an impact! Unfortunately, in the last game of the season, after scoring the winner, she was carted off with a broken leg! Thankfully she had the summer to recover from surgery and has just started back training for the new season. She is hungry for goals and won’t want to give up that trophy!
Name: Nat
Position: Striker
Bio: Nat played for Somerset county when she was 14 and then played her club football at Mendip. Nat took an eight-year break from football to start a family and she now has 3 amazing boys who are her biggest fans each week. Her love of football was so strong that she dusted off her boots and joined Cheddar in 2022 and has since been clocking up the goals and hat-tricks much to the delight of her 3 boys.
Name: Sinead
Position: Striker
Bio: Sinead has been with the Cheese for a number of years and likes to score goals! Work commitments mean that Sinead is not always available to play but when she can she likes to run at defenders and see that ball in the back of the net. She is strong and fit and can be regularly found either in the gym or doing DIY.
Name: Gabby
Position: Goalie/Striker
Bio: Gabby is relatively new to the Cheddar team but has made a great impact since starting as striker. She is a gifted forward player and also ironically a superb goalie. She loves playing in both positions and whether its putting the ball in the back of the net, or diving to save it going in the net, she gives 100% when she puts on a Cheese jersey.
